NWFA ACCEPTING FUNDING FOR NOMINATED LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS
The National Wood Flooring Association has received nominations for two wood flooring legends into its Legacy Scholarship program through the NWFA Education and Research Foundation. The newest honorees include John Hamar and Gina Mitchell.
These two industry icons are being recognized for the gift of their time and effort to advance both the NWFA and the wood flooring industry:
- John Hamar, previous owner of Horner Flooring, was in the hardwood industry for over 50 years. John led the MFMA as the President of its board of directors from 1970-1975 and was inducted into the MFMA Hall of Fame in 2008. John was also one of the members of the founding board of directors of the National Wood Flooring Association.
- Gina (Guajardo) Mitchell graduated from the University of Arkansas with her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. She was a true entrepreneur as Vice President of Professional Coatings Incorporated for over 26 years.
The NWFA Education & Research Foundation Legacy Scholarship Program was established to recognize individuals who made significant contributions to the wood flooring industry. Nominations can be made with a $5,000 donation to the Foundation. Based on these donations, the NWFA gives out one scholarship per school to continue the legacy of the program’s nominees. The NWFA Education & Research Foundation (NERF) was established to provide industry research and educate future generations of wood flooring professionals. Thanks to the generosity of its members, NWFA has conducted such research as the Life Cycle Analysis of Wood Flooring and awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships.
